Our Herstory

OUT OF BOUNDS was established in 2006. The founder, Arriba Walker, serves tirelessly the children and youth of our communities in her capacity as a Community Based Master’s level therapist and supervisor of an intensive behavioral health program. She has provided mental health treatment to children, youth and their families at various levels: residential treatment, outpatient counseling, therapeutic foster care, school based counseling, homeless shelter for women, family based services, service coordination, and after school programming.
Through her work with youth and her own personal experiences, Mrs. Walker witnesses the weakening of a generation by abuse and exploitation, drugs and alcohol addiction, low self-esteem, truancy and school dropout, and family fragmentation, especially for adolescent girls. Recognizing that these children are in distress, Mrs. Walker has rolled up her sleeves and developed an exciting program that encourages, empowers, and equips girls at risk of becoming juvenile offenders, to be liberated from the negative images and influences that bind their minds, raze their bodies, and quench their spirits.
